The fact that I’m wanting to get more must mean that I was impressed, right? You got it! I used a P&G $2.50 off of 2 products coupon combined with some some CVS Extra bucks I had earned. Those savings essentially made the 2 products BOGO for me. Sweet deal, right?
Anyway, I got Plum Pout (which didn’t resemble any other color I have with the word “Plum” in it) as well as Wild Berry Pink. I always see people review products and do the swatches thing, but it’s never women of color, so that doesn’t help me at all. I think you kind of have to take a leap of faith with this product because the packaging doesn’t really help you that much. Both shades I purchased were extremely pigmented, but they need to be in order to “stain” your lips.
I applied an even layer of color, then immediately blotted a good deal off. I let the product set for a few minutes, then I topped it with plain ol’ Blistex. I had thought about using the topcoat from the regular Outlast lipcolor, but decided against it. I’m glad I did.
So, here comes the test! I ate 2 meals with the product on and didn’t lose a lot of color. Just a little, and I didn’t really notice that until after I ate the second time. Gives a nice bit of color to my lips, but not too much; which I love. As a woman of color, I don’t have a natural pink hue to my lips. My lips are pretty much brown. If I want my lips to have any color, I have to get it from makeup. I think this great product from Cover Girl may do the trick! It literally feels like I just have my plain ol’ chapstick on and nothing else.
I checked out some reviews on Makeup Alley, and someone was nice enough to do a very comprehensive review with swatches of all the available shades. And while this wonderful reviewer is much lighter than me, I saw what my two shades looked liked on her. At the same time, I spotted another one I wanted: Cinnamon Smile. I’ll probably go get that tomorrow, after I get my free perfume from Macy’s.
One tip I picked up while Googling last night: Make sure your lips are fully exfoliated before using this. If you have dry skin or flakes on your lips, the product will stick to that primarily and look funky.
