ZAGG invisibleSHIELDWell, I gave it the good ol’ college try, but I don’t think this is a relationship that is going to work! This is the story of my attempt to put a ZAGG invisibleSHIELD full body screen protector on my iPhone.

I watched a handful of YouTube instructional and review videos. Then I visited some blogs to see how others fared and to pick up some tips. I thought I was ready to try it out, so I got started!

Washed my hands and turned off my phone was the start. Big duh there. Then I used a special lens cloth to remove all my fingerprints and dust from my iPhone. So far, so good!

Next, I sprayed my fingertips with some of the spray that was provided. Still doing well.

Then, the problems started. Peeling the front screen back from the paper looked like it should be easy, but it wasn’t. In everyone else’s video, it peeled off perfectly and with ease; not with my protector! I damn near had to tug on the thing to get it off. And since it required a little elbow grease to get it off, I think it stretched a little. Grrrrrreat.

Anyway, I kept going because I figured it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Maybe it was. Maybe it wasn’t. I applied the spray pretty liberally on the sticky side and lined things up. Another problem arose there. I just couldn’t get the darn thing straight! So I kept pulling it up, applying more spray and starting over. I finally got it to where it was tolerable, squeegeed out the bubbles, and took a deep breath. I still wasn’t happy with how it turned out, because lint snuck in underneath. I know that’s going to bother me like none other because I’m anal. But, for now, I decided to keep going.

Basically had the same problem with the back of the phone (I ordered a full body protector). And ultimately I ran out of the spray. I would get the hole for the camera lined up, but then, the bottom would be horribly off. Then I would start at the bottom, and work my up, then the camera hole would be off. And on, and on, and on. It was so frustrating. The back looks horrible and the sides don’t fit like they should AT ALL. I doubt it will be any better tomorrow.

I purchased some more SHIELDspray, but that was probably a waste of money as I’ve heard that after it sets, and then you remove it, it’s pretty much done because it stretches. InvisibleSHIELD protectors aren’t the kind you can remove, wash, and re-use. That sucks considering how pricey these things are!

So, I spent some time looking for alternatives for my full body protection. I don’t like hard, silicon, or leather cases. I like my phone “out” and proud. I like the screen protectors because they protect but keep the phone’s intended appearance as if you just took it out of the box.

I think I’m going to give Best Skins Ever a try. At least, if it doesn’t work, I’m not out $24. The loss there would only be about $8.

So, to say I’m disappointed in the invisibleSHIELD full body screen protector would be an understatement. When it comes to my phone, I want perfection, and I did not get it; even after putting in an hour’s worth of effort. I really wish there were someplace local, where I could take my phone in and have someone else install this product. I’d be all over that!

For a product promoted as being “easy” to install, nothing could have been further from the truth. Thumbs down, Zagg!

Any suggestions for a quality screen protector that delivers on its promises and is easy to install?
