I lamented last year about missing the Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” 5k here in Columbus. Last year, I didn’t even start the Couch to 5k plan until the month after the race took place.

I hope to be ready this year, and registration is open for the race, taking place on May 16th in downtown C-Bus.

The major obstacle this year will be readiness, but for a different reason. Since I’m currently doing the ChaLEAN Extreme program, that will occupy my workout time until the very beginning of May. That leaves me with just a couple of weeks to get up-to-speed; pun intended.

I’m not so sure about doubling up the CE workouts with a refresher c25k course in order to be ready. I don’t want to overdo things and risk an injury. But at the same time, I should be in tip top shape; just not running shape. I wonder if it’s even going to make that much of a difference.

Local station 10TV’s Commit to be Fit 5k race is May 2 downtown. I’m thinking I might do that just to gauge my fitness and then I can decide how to train for the next couple of weeks leading up to the Komen Race on the 16th. I like to be ready on race day!
