Starting To Get Olympic Fever!

016_Summer_Olympics_logo.svg

Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with the Summer Olympic Games. It’s almost like I retreat into a bunker for 2 weeks, and I shun all human interaction until the Olympics are over. Your girl is dialed allllll the way in, y’all!

But my excitement has been a little tempered this year. I’ve never been a fan of the IOC. They are corrupt and stay awarding the games to host cities who have no business hosting an Olympics. That issue aside, the issue with the Zika virus (and high profiles athletes dropping out), as well as the contamination in the water (what about the open water swimmers?!), and the security situation are all leaving a sour taste in my mouth.

I want to be my usual excited self for the Games, but I really am concerned for the safety and well-being of the world’s athletes. At this point all I can do is pray all will be well and the Olympics will go off without incident.

So, I’m easing my way back into things with some of Olympic Trials taking place this weekend. As I type this, I’m watching the Women’s Gymnastics Trials. And, come Sunday, I will be reunited with Swimming as their Trials get underway.

GO USA!

Site Cleansing Update

I think I’ve finally cleansed the site of the malware that was plaguing its stay on the previous server. Well, for now, at least. Hackers and spam bots are persistent and always evolving. So, my site is no longer flagged by Google. That’s good!

I’ve also made the decision to move all my running podcasts off the site. I don’t know if the ability to download them, using a WordPress plugin, contributed to the attack of my site, but it certainly can’t hurt to move them. I’m setting my sights on a free download site. (Recommendations are welcome!)

So that’s the Monday update. Thanks for bearing with me!

ETA: The temporary link to all my podcasts (until I re-link them on their corresponding pages) is available on my Facebook page!

Trying To Clean This Place Up!

My previous webhosting server has been continuously attacked by hackers and spammers throughout the past 2 years. With my term almost up with that company, I decided it was time to move to new digs. So, that’s what I’ve been doing the past few days!

I’m just settling in, but I sincerely hope this experience is much better than what I just went through. Here’s to the future!

(And yes, I’m still going to work on fixing links, downloads, and anything else I can that has been broken on the site. Please be patient with me.)

Tried Out Houlihan’s Inspiralized Menu Tonight

I got an Influenster VoxBox at the beginning of the month, inviting me to visit Houlihan’s and check out their new menu items, created by Ali Maffucci of Inspiralized.com. The 3 special items are a substitute spiralized veggies in place of noodles and are lower in carbs & sugar.

Another Free Movie Screening Partner!

stx_logo

My post on how to attend free movie screenings is one of my most popular posts on this site. I’m glad! I’ve gotten to see a lot of movies in the past year and a half because of tracking the right keywords, and signing up with as many screening partners as I possibly can.

I got several AdvancedScreenings.com alerts today and they directed me to a new screening partner for the upcoming movie Hardcore Henry. This new site is stxtickets.com. I registered and claimed my passes. Now whether or not I go remains to be seen, but I can make that call next week!

So, if you’re also always looking to maximize the number of free movie screenings you can attend, it probably couldn’t hurt to sign up for an account at STX Entertainment too!

Have my tips helped you? How many free movies have you scored? Let me know in the comments!

Pardon The Dust

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I promised, in 2016, that I’d knock the dust off this place and get back to blogging, and that’s what I’m in the process of doing.

It’s weird, I have plenty to say (as evidenced by my Twitter account), but when it comes to pulling up my blog and typing it out, I just get lazy. I mean, I haven’t published a post since June 2015. That is completely unacceptable and I’m going to be better!

I am still going to refresh the Couch to 5k podcasts, as well as fix the download links on those pages. I know they’ve been wonky and inaccessible to a lot of you for a long time. And with it being a New Year, I’m sure plenty of you want to get working on your fitness, as part of a resolution. I hear y’all, and I apologize.

I’m also going to share more pictures I take because I got two new cameras last year. I love them, named them Ethel and Agnes, and have been slowly purchasing accessories for them.

The Skinny On Free Screenings & How To Attend Them!

freebies

The Maze Runner, Let’s Be Cops, About Time, Mortdecai, Focus, Insurgent, Age of Adaline, Hot Pursuit, Entourage, Spy, Inside Out, Magic Mike XXL, Max, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

The above list is all the movies I’ve gotten passes to, in the past year, for a free screening. If you add up all those movies (averaging $10 per) that’s a savings of about $140! That’s a lot, y’all!

I frequently tweet about screenings I attend, and get responses from followers asking how I always end up seeing all these movies for free. Well, I’m going to share, because sharing is caring, right?
