Let’s Talk About Burger King’s “French Fry Burger”

french fry burger

Burger King certainly isn’t blazing any trails with the announcement of their new $1 “French Fry Burger.” People who have been putting their fries on their burgers for years have all but scoffed at idea.

I don’t combine my fries and burgers when I’m at home, eating at a table, and settled. But sometimes, if I’m on-the-go, I don’t think I’d mind. In fact, it seems like a really convenient idea. Almost a no-brainer!

I mean, I’m by no means crowning Burger King “King of Fast Food” (see what I did there?), but I like the move. And, to be honest, I’m not sure any other chains have the cut of fries to pull off something like this. The old Wendy’s fries (which were far superior to the crap we’re stuck with now) would have been perfect. McDonald’s fries are probably a little thin. And that’s not me being critical. They’re my favorite fast food fries. I just think a “French Fry Burger” would be best implemented with a thicker fry.

So, perhaps I’ll revisit this post after I try the “French Fry Burger.” I’m all for more ideas from fast food joints, even though I’m still not buying/eating chicken wings from McDonald’s.

P.S. Does BK’s burger come with cheese? Because I don’t do cheese-less burgers. Just saying.

I Did It!

When I decided I would participate in the #31WriteNow challenge, I was optimistic, but figured there’d be some bumps in the road along the way. I WAS WRONG!

I didn’t miss a single day of this challenge and easily found something to write about each day. I only scheduled posts when I knew I’d have a busy weekend. Otherwise, I typically wrote posts after midnight and had them post between 11AM and 1PM the next day. (I don’t hit publish on posts that I compose after midnight because of my blog’s readership tendencies)

Earlier this year I thought finding something to write about 2-3 times per week would be soooooo hard. Now that I’ve successfully found something to write about every day, for an entire month, I know I can find fresh content for my blog.

I’m going to take a couple of days off, but I’ll be back shortly, with some more regular posts.

Did anyone else do the #31WriteNow challenge? How did it go for you?

The Day My Mom Found Out My Blog’s URL

I remember it like it was yesterday…

Actually it was about a week ago. I was watching Walker, Texas Ranger with my parents, as I sometimes do during the week. Dad’s choice. Ranger Trivette, Walker’s sidekick, made a comment to some “bad guy” that he could “kiss his black ass”, and I chuckled. Both of my parents looked at me, as if to say “why was that funny?” So I casually announced that that little phrase was the URL to my personal blog.

My mother’s face was absolutely priceless! So much so that I wish I’d have been able to take a picture of it at that very moment!

My mom knows I blog. Whenever I start complaining about things, she tells me to go blog and give my opinions a voice. She also knows I have a very popular set of running podcasts that have helped a lot of people get off the couch and hit the pavement.

But Mom also knows I grew up in a household where there was absolutely no cussing. I’m talking we weren’t even allowed to say “sucks” growing up, y’all! The only swearing I’ve done in front of my parents is pointing out something someone else has said; quoting. And I always hesitate before I do so, like I’m still going to get in trouble. Of course, I’m not, but I was well trained. The cussing I learned at age 10, has always shut off in the presence of my family members.

I’ve owned kissmyblackass.org for the better part of a decade. I had it parked, for a couple of years, before I even decided to use it for a personal blog in 2008.

So having said all that, my Mom has never visited, thus her extreme surprise. It was a hilarious moment that I will never forget. And now I’ve captured the moment on my blog, so I can relive it over and over again!

Sorry, Mom!

New TV Obsession: Orange Is The New Black

It took me longer to join the bandwagon, but let me tell y’all, that I am allllllll the way on board right now! Hello! I am completely obsessed with Netflix’s breakout hit Orange Is The New Black!

I watched all 13 episodes in a 24 hour period and I cannot believe how long we all have to wait for Season 2! I guess I should just be thankful that there is actually going to be a Season 2, but nah. I’m going to go ahead and complain about the wait anyway.

I really adore the cast of OITNB. I think Taystee and Poussey are my favorites. Piper annoys me like none other, which is funny because it’s her story. But sometimes it be’s like that. I love Laura Prepon, but not as Alex Vause. I love her as Donna on That 70s Show.

Pennsatucky, brought to life by Taryn Manning, is the best acting job in the cast. Man, does she sell that brand of crazy, or what?! And we all know that she isn’t dead, after that cliff hanger, because she’s been bumped up to full-time series regular. Ahhh! I have so many questions!

I’m thisclose to buying the book because I have questions. I know that book Larry and Pennsatucky are very different from TV Larry and Pennsatucky, but I don’t care! I must know what happens!

Is anyone else as obsessed with Orange Is The New Black? Who are your favorite characters?

#31WriteNow Challenge – A Month of Daily Blog Posts

One of my favorite bloggers, Luvvie at AwesomelyLuvvie.com is doing a new challenge, for the month of August. The challenge requires bloggers publish a new blog post every day of the month. Now y’all know I haven’t been posting regularly around here, but this is a challenge I’m actually (and without reason) interested in. I don’t know why, either. Maybe it’s the whole “challenge” aspect of it.

It also might provide the proverbial kick in the you-know-what that I need to get back into the swing of things around here. I’m allowed to schedule posts, as long as something gets posted every day. Soooooo, I’m gonna give it a shot! Please bare with me as I am going to be writing about all sorts of topics: books, sports, stuff I see on Twitter, stupid celebrities, my crazy cat. I see it, I’ll probably write about it!

This is my August 1st post! Boo-yah!

Misplacing Items You Downloaded Is Not Fun

I spent the better part of last weekend, trying to find a WordPress theme, that I downloaded months ago, for future use. I distinctly remember saying “oooooohhh! I love this! I think I’ll use this once I get sick of my current theme!” and then saving it.

Now that I am finally at the point where I am sick of this theme, wouldn’t you know that I can’t find that theme? I don’t remember where I saved it or what it’s even called! All I know is I want it and I can’t find it!

AHHHHHH! So, I guess it’s back to the drawing board for me!
