Bare Minerals Creeping Into My Skincare Routine

20140715-195414-71654692.jpg

Will you take a look here? Suz has been buying Bare Minerals products that don’t fall into the “makeup” category!

Y’all know I’m always glued to each and every QVC presentation of Bare Minerals. Well, this year, they introduced some new products that have caught my attention. I’m already a fan of the new liquid foundation (1, 2), but now some skincare items have made their way into my collection; the Biolucent Minerals Brightening Treatment and the Mineralixirs Facial Cleansing Oil.

Did CVS Change Their Coupon Policy?

cvs_coupon

I ask this because of an employee interaction on my most recent trip to CVS.

As an obviously valued CVS ExtraCare Card member, I get emailed coupons and X dollar off discounts on a weekly basis. Last week, I was sent a 30% off my purchase coupon. I usually get 20% or 25% coupons, so I was thinking about what I needed, so I could maximize my savings.

Well, when I got to CVS, I went to the NYX display because I wanted to get a coupon of their Slide-On eyeliners. That plan fell through because Jet Black was out of stock. In fact, it’s always out of stock when I stop by lately. An employee placed a stock re-order for me, so I guess next time I visit, it could actually be in stock.

I ended up grabbing something that I couldn’t use my coupon on because it was on sale that week. After the cashier told me that, I told her to just throw away my coupon since it was the last day it was valid. Then she told me to hold onto it because they take expired coupons. I said “What?!” and asked her for how much longer and she said “a couple of months, or so.”

Color me surprised. I mean, I only recently learned that Bed, Bath, & Beyond took expired coupons, but I didn’t know CVS did. Or do they?

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Does CVS really take expired coupons? I’m leaning towards the cashier not really knowing what she’s talking about, but maybe it is true. I’m going to hit up some other locations and see if I can get some more confirmation on this. Because this could be a game changer for me, seeing as how I get coupons emailed to me every week!

Chime in and let me know what you think? Has anyone else heard about this? Let a sista know!

‘Twas a Bare Minerals Type of Week

It dawned on me, late tonight, that I had received 3 Bare Minerals products this week, which had to be some sort of record for me. Now, I only got one of them directly from BM, but it was still 3 items!

Piggy-backing off my previous post, where I detailed how I got $50 worth of Sephora products for $12, I was able to get a free Bare Minerals eyeshadow yesterday. They were running a promo for their FAB members, where all you had to do was bring in the email, pick out the color you wanted (a $14 value), and that’s it!

So, on Monday I got my Bare Minerals Touch-Up Veil (they actually sent the wrong shade, but I’ll write about that later. It worked fine!) and Stroke of Light eye brightener and on Friday, I got my free eyecolor in “moss.”

I am happy with all 3 items, too! What a good week, huh?

And just a reminder that bare Minerals is back on QVC in a couple of weeks, so mark your calendars! I’m sure I’ll be just as disappointed as usual in the offerings for deeper skin tones (and the constant ignoring of their matte foundation), but you know I’ll be watching anyway! It’s a guilty pleasure. Plus, this may be the show where they bring back the deluxe sized Bisque. (It’s already back on QVC.com, actually!) I use that more than the foundation, and they only carry the deluxe size twice a year.

Here are the shows:

Monday, November 25, 2013 from Midnight – 2 a.m., 9 – 11 a.m., 3 – 5 p.m. ET

Happy shopping!

Wednesday Wisdom: Freebies

freebies

I have a nice little rule; if you don’t have to pay for something, don’t!

With all these social apps I’ve stumbled upon, in recent months, I’ve gotten a ton of freebies as a result of doing things I probably was already doing anyway. You know, like watching TV, going shopping, searching the web; stuff like that! Email alerts, via SlickDeals, as well as saved Twitter searches also help. If you keep an eye out, you can find a deal for just about anything you want!

I completed an order at Sephora today. I don’t usually shop there much, but I used a variety of discounts and eGift cards in order to save just about 80% on my order.

1) I found a Sephora employee to share a 2013 Employee Appreciation code with me. (Thanks, Facebook!)

2) Then I remembered I took advantage of a Groupon deal a few months ago. I got a $10 eGift card for $5.

3) Then I cashed in some SwagBucks points for a $15 eGift Card. I got it in my email today, actually! Perfect timing!

4) Lastly, a friend sent me a $5 eGift Card from Wrapp on Facebook.

Putting my eGift Cards together would knock $30 off my order total. Then factoring in the 20% discount, and I ended up getting $50 worth of products for $12 and some change. Not bad, huh? And the best part is that I paid for this order using funds from doing surveys over at OpinionOutpost. So, no cash out of my pocket whatsoever. That makes it free!

It’s Pumpkin Season!

20131012-024747.jpg

Hey everybody! Guess what season it is? Yuuuup, it’s PUMPKIN SEASON!

I look forward to fall every year simply because I get to overdose on limited edition pumpkin offerings. Last year, I went to a Pumpkin festival that is held annually here in Central Ohio. It’s taking place again this week, but I haven’t 100% decided if I’m going to go or not. (I’m definitely going to see Carrie, though!)

If I don’t make it, I will have had enough other Pumpkin-flavored products to completely tide me over for the season.

As pictured above, I’ve already gotten my hands on some Limited items from Pop Tarts and Eggos. The Pop Tarts are literally so good, that next time I get paid, I am stocking up on them. My current box is good until July 2014. I think I’ll be ok hoarding a few more boxes. And the Eggos are delish as well! But I won’t be stocking up because I know how to use Bisquick to create my own using Libby’s Pumpkin or a related item that’s available year round.

I haven’t grabbed a Pumpkin Pie Blizzard yet. I went at the end of September and they told me it’d be back in October. Well, it’s October!

I’ve heard Trader Joe’s is a treasure trove of delicious Pumpkin items, including Pumpkin Bread Mix, Pumpkin Butter, Pumpkin Ravioli, and even Pumpkin Macarons! So I will have to make a special trip and see for myself. (Besides I need more Cookie Butter)

I’ve been looking for the Limited Edition Yoplait (Light) Pumpkin Pie yogurt, but I’m not sure it really exists. And I think this despite seeing advertising and pics of it on Twitter. They even have a special page for it on their website. I’ve checked all the available stores in my area and nothing! I live in the 15th largest city in the country. I figure it should be around here somewhere, right? Well, someone on my Facebook page, directed me to the Yoplait’s product locator page, and voila! Now I know where, in my city, to go to get these. I’m going in a few hours!

Anyway, I’m enjoying my fall, so far, thanks to my #ALLPUMPKINEVERYTHING lifestyle. Is anyone else as obsessed as I am?

Still Impressed With Shopkick

shopkick

About a month ago, I wrote about how much I was enjoying using the Shopkick app. I explained what it does and how easy it is to use. Basically, you get points (referred to as “kicks”) just for walking into stores. That’s it! And you can get even more “kicks” by scanning barcodes of items, while in store, or using a certain credit card for the in-store purchase you were already going to make.

I’ve only been using Shopkick for about a month, and I’ve already earned enough points for a variety of rewards! I could get a $10 gift card to Target, Starbucks, Macy’s, Old Navy, Papa John’s, iTunes, Sephora, Fandango, and much more. But on this particular day, I decided to go with a $10 gift card from Fandango. I want to go see the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie again. And I’m bringing my brother along as well. I always drag him to see my YA book-to-movie adaptations. He’s so agreeable. Love my brother!

But really impressed me with my interactions with the Shopkick app today was how quickly I got my promo code, after cashing in my points. It was immediate! Like, the page loaded, and 5 seconds later, they directed me to my Rewards page! I’m so used to SwagBucks, where after you redeem points for rewards, you will wait a minimum of 3-4 days. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some SwagBucks, but I absolutely hate the wait for my rewards. Especially for PayPal cash. I have to wait a week for that.

So, I was able to immediately hop my on my computer and buy tickets for a show tomorrow. Very quick process!

Seriously though, using Shopkick is like getting free “play money.” If you haven’t jumped on board, what are you waiting for? Start earning “kicks” and see what you can get!

So, standing ovation to Shopkick for such a pleasant app experience. I don’t only use my blog to complain about things. I sometimes issue praise, too!
