These Kobe System Ads Are HILARIOUS!

Kanye West Kobe System

After the burn that Kobe served to Aziz Ansari in the first Kobe System spot I saw, I honestly thought it was a one time deal. Totally wasn’t expecting there to be lulz in any of the ones that came after it. Boy, was I wrong!

The latest with Kanye West and Kobe still has me rolling. Check it out!

The POTUS Can Carry A Tune!

YouTube Preview Image

I had no idea that Obama could sing! Not only do I love Al Green “Let’s Stay Together”, but he sang it so well. Nicely done, Mr. President. I only wish he’d sung a little bit more!

ETA: The President has received such a positive response from this that you can now download it as a ringtone for your phone!

DISCLAIMER: I typically steer clear of politics/religion on here, not because I don’t have beliefs and ideas, but because I’m aware a lot of different groups visit and I don’t want to be too polarizing. This is a happy and positive place (for the most part LOL). Just a personal decision. So, don’t think this means that I’m going political now. I’m not. This post is about music and nothing more.

My Pics From Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E. Tour Stop in Cincinnati

When Chris Brown announced that he was going on tour, I held my breath that he would include at least one date near me. Most tours seem to think the Midwest equals Detroit/Chicago and that’s it. Suz is not cool with this trend at all!

(Also, please save your vitriol re: Breezy for somebody else. This is my blog and I honestly don’t care if you don’t like him and/or don’t think anyone else should either. I do, so deal with it.)

Anyway, to my surprise, he released the tour dates and there were *several* that were in driving distance! Now, there were conflicts for a couple, but the Cincinnati date (which was originally supposed to be Cleveland lol) stood out & I bought my ticket the second the pre-sale began. I ended up in Row M, direct center. That was plenty close for someone who is a self proclaimed “concert snob”.

Here’s how close I was, with my camera completely zoomed out.

The stage from my seat
It’s kinda blurry, but the big rings are where the main stage area is

And below are the best of the pics I took. (My video is already on YouTube)

Chris Brown performed his ass off when he took the stage in Cincinnati. I didn’t expect anything different, really, because he’s a natural entertainer. Still, the show exceeded my expectations and vaulted itself into my Top 5 all-time shows with the likes of Lauryn Hill and Joss Stone. Well done, Breezy!

Suz’s Summertime Fun: Hula Hooping (VIDEO)

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long, but I’ve been talking about getting a hula hoop for like a year now! Well, I finally got one and I’m totally obsessed with it! Even learned a little trick and I’ve only had it for 1 day! I like it because it still counts as a “workout” without being vigorous, and it reminds me of my childhood.

What fun activities do y’all do like as extra workouts?

VIDEO: My #1 Fitness Tip

I’m about to head out on a run and forgot I even recorded this. It’s been chillin’ on my iPhone for 2 weeks. Thought I’d just go ahead and share! Hope this tip is as helpful for you as it is for me!

No More ‘Gateway to 8k’, So Now What? (VIDEO)

I know y’all have been waiting for this announcement with baited breath. I just hope none of you passed out!

Anywhoooo, I took a few weeks — after learning I could not continue making Gateway to 8k podcasts — and tried to make a decision as to which program I’d use instead. I promised I’d keep making podcasts and I’m sticking to that! Watch my video to learn my decision!

Also, I made a “2011 Faves” mix for the Couch to 5k Week 1 podcast. 2011 Faves is just my nerdy way of naming songs that I’m feeling right now. They probably also appear on my iTunes ‘Most Played’ playlist. Some are sorta new, and some not at all. (Y’all know how I roll) But I love them and play them a lot! I will share those as well! Just thought some of my original Hip Hop #c25k mixes needed a little update. Flo Rida’s “Low” is so not the biz anymore. Gotta stay fresh, right?!

Workout Throwback: Tamilee Webb’s “I Want That Body”

I Want THAT Body

I’ve been doing a TurboFire/ChaLEAN Extreme hybrid workout program since I decided I wasn’t quite ready/willing to do P90x.

Part of the workout schedule includes ab work. Duh. Most of the ab workouts Chalene included in TurboFire and ChaLEAN Extreme are fine, but one of them, Abs 10, makes my neck/back hurt no matter how I modify the moves. I’m not the biggest fan of floor ab work anyway unless it’s really creative.

So, as a substitute, I reached for an old friend, Tamilee Webb’s “I Want That Body” DVD. Most know her as the “Buns of Steel” girl. It’s an oldie, but a goodie. And as I recalled, the abs track is crazy good!

I was feeling cocky, so I decided to do the the Level 2 workout of the Abs program. And it all came rushing back to me! It’s a tough, tough, tough workout and it hurt so good! Read more »

Love the New Barnes & Noble “Read Forever” Ad

YouTube Preview Image

If you take a look around the internet, you’ll see 2 distinct camps, with regards to reading: a) The techies that are all about e-readers & think everyone else lives in the stone age and b) the traditionalists who look down upon e-reader crowd saying things like “I like to feel the page turns”.

It’s really unfortunate, and that’s why I absolutely adore the new Barnes & Noble Nook commercial, titled “Read Forever”!

If you prefer one reading medium over the other, that’s great! In my opinion, if one of them gets someone, who otherwise wouldn’t be reading, to read, then shouldn’t we all be celebrating that rather than engaging in a flame war?

I’m one of those e-reader people. I adore Lula Mae, my Nook Color, and I wouldn’t have read a single page from a book this year if it weren’t for her. Physically turning a page, or folding the corner over to bookmark, doesn’t mean a thing to me. I’m thankful for e-readers, because they got me to read!

I don’t look down upon those who prefer actual books. I’m just glad that when people talk about specific books or what I’m reading, I actually have an answer!

So, the B&N Nook ad provides a bit of a a Kumbaya moment, right? Even Kindle owners are co-signing in approval. And speaking of the Kindle, read on to see Amazon’s decidedly different ad approach to the battle. Read more »
