New TurboFire Workouts On The Way!

Chalene Johnson announced today that new TurboFire workouts are on the way! Here’s what you need to know!

1. I am no longer a BeachBody coach (just didn’t work out, nothing bad to say about it), so my excitement for TurboFire is real! I still do the workouts regularly; including today.

2. There’s a more “beginner” workout for those not as familiar with choreography or terminology. I refer a lot of friends/fitness pals to Turbo Jam over TurboFire because it gives an easier base to move on to TurboFire later. This workout, “Fire Starter Class”, eases you into TurboFire at a slower pace.

3. Then there are 2 HIIT workouts (Low HIIT 20 Class and Low HIIT 25 class), but they are low impact. AKA no jumping! If you knees and joints have required you modify the HIIT training and workouts in this system, these are for you. And Chalene claims they are just as effective. SCORE!

4. There’s an ab video, Ab Igniter Class, as well. Chalene wants you to think of it more as a core workout, rather than just abs. This also focuses on your back as well as inner and outer thigh.

But don’t take my word for it. Chalene recorded a video that includes footage from the workouts. Check it out below…

TurboFire: After 3 Weeks

I’ve been putting this post off for a couple of weeks now, and I’m putting my foot down now! I must talk about the latest and greatest fitness program from Chalene Johnson, TurboFire!

I mentioned that I’d be doing this program on my last fitness post, but I didn’t go into details. I’ll be doing that right here.

Being an alum of both Turbo Jam and ChaLEAN Extreme, I am extremely familiar with Chalene and her fitness programs. Also, as someone with a background in dance, I pick up choreography pretty easily. So, I approached TurboFire with a lot of optimism.

Familiar Faces!

Heyyyyy, it's time to par-tay!

Heyyyyy, it's time to par-tay!

When I started doing ChaLEAN Extreme in the beginning of February, I was coming off a couple of months of 30 Day Shred, Firm Cardio, and Cathe Muscle Max. It was a big mash-up. I didn’t really have much of a rotation. I just made sure I did strength training twice a week. At that point I wasn’t doing a lot of Turbo Jam. On days I wasn’t in the mood to workout, I’d force myself to do the 20 minute workout. That was about it!

So, I went through the entire ChaLEAN Extreme program without thinking about how many cast members showed up in that system as well as Turbo Jam. I mean, obviously Jenelle was there. But that’s all I really noticed…until tonight!

I did the Turbo Jam Cardio Party Remix workout and saw familiar faces! I saw Laylee and Toni in there and was like “HEY! I KNOW THEM!” Then I looked at the covers of other Turbo Jam workouts and spotted Donna. Chalene said in some ChaLEAN Extreme workouts that she didn’t “cast” the program. She said she simply used her real friends who actually did the program as intended.

'Time to get extreme, baby!'

'Time to get extreme, baby!'

After seeing Laylee and Toni (sorry if I’m mispelling their names!) in Turbo Jam, which was obviously the “before” CE, and seeing them “after” made me realize what a good program ChaLEAN Extreme is. Both women looked great before, but I feel they look so much better after ChaLEAN Extreme. Especially Toni, who ended up having quadruplets. I think the muscle tone agrees with both of their frames. And bangs look fab on Laylee!

Honestly, I should have been tipped off with how Chalene constantly joked about how much Laylee liked the kickboxing moves in ChaLEAN Extreme. But I wasn’t!

I know that generally I’m pretty slow with observations, this post only furthers that notion.

Contemplating ChaLEAN Extreme

I have talked before about wanting to do a new system for my workouts this new year. I mentioned my curiosity for Cathe Friedrich’s new STS system. Cathe packs a punch when it comes to hardcore weight training, so I was intrigued.

However, even after reading her FAQ, STS seemed really confusing to me. Not to mention its hefty pricetag of $239.97 plus shipping and handling. I like Cathe, but I’d almost rather do P90x — whose instructor probably wouldn’t hold my attention long — than shell out that much dough for a 90 day workout program. Not to mention that I’m not looking for drastic weightloss or change. I’m not, nor have I ever been, overweight. I just want to challenge myself and tone up a little more.

I just happen to love the idea of varied workouts where you do something different almost every other workout. I feel like my body gets accustomed to workouts pretty quickly and then I lose the edge as they aren’t as challenging; even if I’m increasing weight loads.

So, enter Chalene Johnson of Turbo Jam with a new comparable product called “ChaLean Extreme”. First of all, I love, love, love, love her! Turbo Jam is my cardio workout of choice. But I tend to wonder if she had anything up her sleeve in terms of weight training and it looks like she does! Having an instructor that I actually like goes a long way to whether or not I stick with something. No issue with someone like Chalene. She’s awesome!

Here are the basics: “ChaLEAN Extreme” contains 15 workouts on 6 DVDs. You’ll make 3 monthly payments of $39.95 plus shipping. Chalene pimps her method, which she calls “lean phasing”. It’s described as the following:

My proven circuit training technique shifts your fat-burning focus from cardio to resistance training. I’ll have you lifting heavy weights in 3 phases to ignite your metabolism and help you burn fat long after your workout—even while you sleep!

After doing Jillian Michaels’ “30 Day Shred” for a couple of months, I already knew I liked circuit training, so this looks like something I might like. I’m seriously considering purchasing this. I’ve been roaming the internet looking for reviews lately. Since it’s new, they are pretty hard to find, but so far, people do seem to like it. I haven’t seen anyone say they don’t like it. That’s a bonus!

Check out the promo video below.

What do y’all think? Doing this for 90 days would effectively occupy me, workout-wise, up until it’s warn enough to run again. Perfect!

BONUS: Chalene just started following me on Twitter. I know it’s geeky, but I’m excited about it. Maybe it’s a sign!
