My Favorite Super Bowl Ad: 2017 Edition

People say many things about Melissa McCarthy, most of which don’t matter to me. I worship at the church of Melissa McCarthy and she can do no wrong in my eyes. If she is starring in a movie, guess who is going to see it, no matter what? THIS GIRL!

So, I was beyond excited when she spruced up what I thought was the saddest lineup of Super Bowl ads in years, or maybe ever. Thank you, Melissa and KIA!

So, below is my pick for favorite Super Bowl ad.

And my runner-up was courtesy of Buick and Cam Newton.

Looks like the car ads had my heart this year. Whodathunkit?

My Top 10 Super Bowl Ads: 2014 Edition

I did this last year, so why not do it again? Exactly!

I didn’t think the selection of Super Bowl commercials were that great as I was watching the game. The day after, I still am underwhelmed, but that didn’t stop me from having some favorites.

Here is a list, in no particular order.

Coca-Cola: Going All the Way

Budweiser: A Hero’s Welcome

Budweiser: Puppy Love

Today, in “How The Mighty Have Fallen”…

Why, Nelly? WHY??

What happened to Nelly? Can someone put out an APB on him? The Nelly I knew, back when I was living in St. Louis, was the man! You couldn’t go anywhere in that city, without hearing someone playing his songs, talking about him, or even running into him! Those were the days…

Fast forward to 2013, and I don’t even know what Nelly’s life is about anymore. After Flo Rida stole his career, he’s seemed really, really lost.

Yesterday, I saw exactly how far the “mighty” have fallen: Nelly has filmed a series of 5 ads with the Honey Nut Cheerios bee. Yes, you read that correctly. He’s appearing in commercials with an animated bee.

Watch the first spot below:

Le sigh. I’m starting a prayer circle. Feel free to join me and help save Nelly!

Note: I’m just messing with Nelly. However he pays his bills is his business. But man. I wish he could bring it, in the booth, like in his Country Grammar days again…

Have I Mentioned How Much I Love The Mannings?

Every day we read about the shenanigans that certain sports stars are up to. These days, there’s a new Johnny Manziel headline everyday, and a new Riley Cooper apology on the off days. Where’s the fun, I ask? WHERE IS THE FUN?!

You don’t have to look very far for relief. Eli and Peyton Manning have our backs. Obviously inspired by the success of Justin Timberlake’s digital shorts for SNL, the lovable brothers have teamed with DirecTV to give us a music video full of hilarity!

I’ve long been a fan of the Manning Brothers; especially Peyton. (Yea, I first blogged about him waaaaay back in 2008. That’s love!) Those guys are so humble and don’t take themselves too seriously, which is a trait I really appreciate in high profile entertainers.

So, without further ado, I give you “Football On Your Phone!” Watch below:

Thank you, Microsoft!

Honestly, when’s the last time you said that out loud? It’s probably been a while, right? Well feast your eyes on this work of art!

Well, I have to thank them for preaching that good word with their latest Windows phone TV ad. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m tired of the back and forth between Samsung/Android and Apple. How bout both of y’all calm your tits and concentrate on your own product, not your competitor. It’s so juvenile and people are going to like what they regardless of how petty your ads are.

And while the Windows ad is truthfully funny, they’re employing the same “bash the competitor” mentality that Samsung uses, so they’re not whole lot better. It’s like political season all over again. Le sigh…

“I think they like fighting.”

Apple used to poke, incessantly, at Windows, back in the day. Remember the Mac vs. PC ads? Those were hilarious to me, and I’m a lifelong PC user!

In any case, I’m quite liking the direction Apple has been going lately, with their ads. See the most recent offering, below:

THIS is what a mobile phone manufacturer should be putting out into the world.

And having said all that, no way I’m buying a Windows phone. I’m an app addict, and the Windows phone offerings are just not up the standard I’ve become accustomed to with the iTunes App Store.
