Well, she still is! I’ve just finished Day 6 of her Level 2 and, while I can tell I’m making progress, it’s clear that this woman knows what she’s doing! My body is adjusting to her maddening workouts. I don’t want to say “it’s getting easier”, because the word “easy” really should not be used in reference to this DVD. I know I said Level 1 was kind of easy, but that was different!

Certain exercises or cardio bursts, that I couldn’t complete in the first few days, I now can. Progress! I still finish each workout breathless. I love that feeling! I can’t imagine what I’m going to feel like when I get to Level 3!

I’m going to do Level 2 for one more week (3 more days since I only do “30 Day Shred” M-W-F) and see how I feel (look?). I love how challenging this workout is! I’ve only been doing it for a few weeks and I can see results in my abs and arms. I’m tall and thin, and the only place I have any fat is my midsection. However, if you ask my mother about that, she’d say “Fat?! What fat!?! You wear a size 5!” What she doesn’t understand is that I once had a 6-pack! So, anything other than a completely flat stomach is, to me, due to fat. I’m seeing definition that I haven’t seen there in a while. I think my body agrees with this type of interval/circuit training. I never thought I’d be able to get any results from a 20 minute workout, but I guess it’s all about intensity!

Did Anyone Else See Work Out This Week?

Well, if not, this was the episode where Jackie and the gang were shooting her newly released workout video.

The lady in charge of putting it all together — I guess she’s the director? — is the same lady the Girls Next Door used for their workout video.

The repeat of the GND episode is on right now and I immediately recognized the chick from this week’s Workout episode. Is she like the only person who helps reality tv show “stars” create their own DVDs? I wonder if she worked on Kim K.’s too?

I watched the preview of this workout on Collage Video (awesome, awesome website, by the way!) and I almost want to buy it. But I’m not going to. I may end up renting and making myself a copy 😉

Back to Collage Video, reading some of the user comments make me chuckle. Especially the ones questioning the credibility of Jackie’s trainers who are featured in the video. Yes, it’s absolutely ridiculous that all of their hair is down and they’re fully made up, but they’re real trainers people; and they’re good ones! They just want them to look good and similar to how they appear on the show. After watching the excruciating process of filming, I have even more respect for them. My arms hurt after watch poor Rebecca!

Back On The Workout Train

I don’t know what was wrong with me last week. I all but lost my motivation to work out and only ended up doing 3 days instead of my usual 5-6.

Maybe it was my body’s way of protesting since it knew that I should have been in Santa Clara covering the Grand Prix meet. *sigh*

Well, I started fresh today and am back on track. I hope I don’t have many more funks like that! I’m about to start my running regimine for the season. I’ll probably be all over Cool Running’s ‘Couch-to-5K’ plan. It works extremely well with Robert Ullrey’s podcasts. He made them specifically for the Couch-to-5k program.

After running, I’m also looking for a few new workout vids. I’m pretty much over “The Firm”. They changed a great deal since I last bought a DVD and I’m not sure I’m feeling the new generation of workouts. They look kind of weak.

I’m looking at new Shock Training System from Cathe. I like the idea of doing a different workout every day so that your muscles are constantly shocked and don’t become accustomed to your routine. The only drawback to Cathe’s STS is that pricetag is steep (3 payments of $79.99 + s/h). I like Cathe, though. Her MuscleMax DVD is in my regular rotation.

I also have the full catalog of Turbo Jam workouts and am working my way through them. I really love TJ! They are the most fun cardio workouts I’ve ever done! I’m going to buy some weighted hand gloves to use with them. I saw some, for the first time, at Target Boutique the other week.

So that’s where I’m at right now with my workouts.
