I Miss Running

I miss running

Mother Nature has it out for us (and don’t even get me started with any of that rapture nonsense lol), so she’s been dropping water on us, like it’s going out of style. As a result, I have yet to run this year!

Now, I know what some of y’all will say. I’m gonna stop you before you can even get started telling me I should layer up, wear a hat, go to a gym, get on a treadmill. Blah, blah, blah! Just stop!

I only run outside. I have to be physically be going somewhere. And I don’t run when it’s cold and/or rainy. I just don’t.

So, after laying out my rules for the road, you can see why I’ve yet to pound the pavement this year. Mother Nature won’t allow it! As a result, I’m chomping at the bit to get back at it. This time last year, I was already over a month into my Couch to 5k program!

Now, I’m not out of shape, by any means. Actually, I think I’m probably in the best shape of my life, compliments of the ChaLEAN Extreme/TurboFire hybrid program I’m doing! I just miss running. It’s so calming and peaceful. It allows me to think about things and/or just let my mind wander. It’s just good for the soul, and dammit I miss that!

So, I hope that sooner, rather than later, I’ll be able to get back to what I love…before it gets cold again!

I Am Running Today!

The sudden cold weather has kept me in the house longer than I thought it would. If it had been gradual, I think I would still be running without interruption. But since Mother Nature likes to mess with me, it was another one of those practically overnight 20+ degree drops.

Well, I still haven’t signed up for that Halloween 5k I mentioned last month. Having my training interrupted didn’t help either. So, I’m about to go running now, no matter what! I have to see how I feel when running for 30 minutes.

It’s going to be much warmer on Friday, the day of this 5k, so if I feel good tonight, then I may just show up and enter the race in person. We’ll see!

ETA: So I got my run in about half an hour after I published this post. I guess it felt ok. I was a little “winded” during the last 8-10 minutes, but not to the point where I was considering stopping and walking. It was more a feeling that the run wasn’t as smooth as before. I don’t know if that’s because I went a week without getting in a run or because it was a little cold out.

I haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to do that 5k Friday or not. I’m considering driving up to Ann Arbor to see the U-M swim team face Indiana and Texas Fri. & Sat., but I’m not certain on that either. I have some decisions to make tomorrow!

Thank Goodness the AC is on!

Usually we crank up the air mid-May. But this year, we had quite the screwy spring and it was unseasonably cool throughout most of May.

Today was the officially the hottest day of the year, to date, and the high was 90 degrees. That was all we needed to know to put the air conditioner on!

I’m thankful because my room is the warmest of the house. We refer to it as the “sauna”, and with reason. Ask any of my friends. They damn near melted when visiting last summer!

So now that the air is on, I’ll sleep much better! When it’s too warm in here, I toss and turn and sweat in my sleep. Ew. That all leads to my face being unhappy and breaking out; I certainly don’t need that!

Why Is Our Heat Still Coming On?

I was catching up with a friend last night and she mentioned that she is none too pleased that her heat is still coming on. The midwest region’s weather has been unusually cool and wet compared to what we normally get this time of year.

I hadn’t really paid attention as my window has been open on and off for the past couple of weeks.

Then it happened.

Tonight, I noticed that the heater kicked on shortly after dinner. Say what?

The average temp for C-Bus is supposed to be 75ish. The high today was 63 and really windy. Cool enough that yours truly cannot wear flip flops without her toes getting chilly. That is unacceptable!

I know mother nature has been enjoying herself at our expense this year, but bitch needs to cut this shit out. It’s not funny!
